Institute for Distance and Distributed Learning Facts At a Glance

  • IDDL offers a wide array of faculty development opportunities including two online instructor certificates
  • An active eLearning faculty community continues to grow in scope.
  • Virginia Tech Online (VTOnline) serves as the university’s gateway to all the distance learning offerings (including online and interactive video conferencing). These include graduate and undergraduate courses, credit and non-credit courses, as well as 35 graduate degree and certificate programs.
  • Online courses comprise a significant segment of the summer session offerings, with 250 online courses during the 2010 summer sessions program.  More than 1,600 online enrollments were achieved during this time.
  • 96 percent of Virginia Tech academic departments are currently engaged in delivering courses at a distance.
