Program Eligibility/Scheduling

Program Eligibility

The program seeks candidates who meet Virginia Tech's graduate admission requirements and have:

  • A Bachelor's Degree, preferably in science, statistics, engineering, or a closely-related field from an accredited institution of higher education
  • Five or more years of increasing job responsibility, with at least three years in a managerial, supervisory, or project-leading capacity

Scheduling and Registration

All courses are taught online by leading professionals and scholars in their respective fields and specialties. The online asynchronous format allows you to fit graduate coursework around your schedule, transcending time zones and making courses accessible to students across the globe. Choose the best learning environment for you, whether it's logging on from home in the evening or on weekends, from your office; its your choice, as you only require a wi-fi connection.

The modules are designed for inter-activity and collaboration, with students participating with their student colleagues and with faculty in learning cohorts that promote support and communication. Therefore, being fully online does not necessarily mean "on-your-own" self study.

Once admitted, registration and fee payment each semester can all be accomplished online. Courses are typically 8 weeks in length during the Fall and Spring semesters, which allows students to take two courses per semester while only studying one course at a time. During the Summer Session semester, courses are 6 weeks in length; This schedule permits a student to take 6 courses (18 credit hours) per year as a part-time student.
